The Dental Assisting Level I and Dental Office Administration Program will provide students with the skills needed to succeed in their role as a Level I Dental Assistant and/or Dental Office Administrator. Students will gain knowledge in pharmacology, Dental Materials, Clinic (Theory and Practice), Dental Radiography, Head and Neck Anatomy, dental software skills, appointment scheduling, records management; including financial records, and dental insurance.  Students will also receive the learning tools to improve their communication skills, increase their time management skills, and operate the Front Desk area of the dental office.

Our state-of-the-art facilities give students plenty of practice in real situations with modern equipment. The program includes field training in a dental office as well as extensive practical experience with knowledgeable instructors.

This program provides the student with the theoretical and practical experience. All concepts taught in the classroom are demonstrated and practiced in the clinical setting on mannequins, student partners, and clients. Students must demonstrate these clinical skills while adhering to the ODAA Code of Ethics

The Dental Assisting Level I and Office Administration course offered at Toronto College of Dental Hygiene and Auxiliaries Inc. contains a HARP approved Dental Radiography course.

The course is 33 weeks (20 hours per week). It is designed to allow the individual to continue to work and learn at the same time. The Course is offered hybrid model which means that all the theory can be taken from the comfort of your home and all radiology lab components will be completed on site

The course will teach the student all the anatomical landmarks of the head and neck that need to be recognized to take x-rays. This course is designed to teach the theory and practical applications of how to take and process radiographs. In addition, the graduate will understand the legal implications of exposing radiographs in Ontario. The graduate will be taught how to recognize and solve faulty radiographs. Graduates will understand the standard of radiographic techniques, radiation hygiene measures, client management and provincial and federal regulations.

Graduates who pass this course will have met the requirements set out by the HARP Act and will be qualified to operate an X-ray machine in the province of Ontario. A certificate will be provided to this program's Graduates which indicates that course completed is HARP Approved.
